I've known Daniel for a bit now--he is roommates with my good friend Sam (who just DJ'd a wedding with me) and also with Kris (whose wedding I'm photographing in June). For close to a year now, Daniel insisted that he wanted me to photograph his wedding and was determined to convince his girlfriend Kayla to think the same. So with three of the six guys living in his apartment engaged, (Daniel now makes four!!) I was just waiting for Dan to ask his girlfriend Kayla to marry him. So, I get a phone call a few weeks ago and Daniel has a plan. (How many guys have plans?) Some time later, it is the day. Daniel treats Kayla like a queen for an entire day and after going out to dinner, they decide to end the day at Folly beach at sunset. All throughout the day, Daniel is texting me, letting me know where they are and by the time he and Kayla arrive at Folly, I am giddily perched behind a palm tree feeling like Jack Bauer. James Bond. Someone stealthy. Daniel hadn't only called me about engagement pictures, but he wanted pictures of the actual engagement!
And to top all of this off, he was planning to propose on Kayla's birthday!
Apparently, I was so good at hiding that Daniel couldn't even find me and I ended up crawling behind different sand dunes and bushes while following them walk along the water. So I'm crouched down behind a bush and am able to capture Daniel down on one knee asking Kayla to be his wife!
After pointing me out, Daniel surprises Kayla again and tells her that they're shooting their engagement pictures right now! Completely honest, these were some of my favorite photos I've ever taken. This is proof that even when a session is a surprise (trust me, I felt the surprise factor too. Building up to Daniel pulling the ring out of his pocket, I was running crazy on adrenaline) and me having a game-plan isn't an option, the love between a couple will blow my mind! Nuff said. Look through these and be jealous of the love that truly did the work creating these photos.
